THE MIMEKI STORY

It all started with a dream. Literally.

In December 2004, founder and designer Rochelle Thwaites had a dream. In this dream, she created a line of beautiful, unique luxury handbags called Mimeki – a word from Rochelle’s Jamaican heritage that means, “I made it.”

Although Rochelle had already become a successful interior designer, the dream simply would not let her go.

Two months later, she flew to New York in search of information, and as if meant to be, pieces fell into place and the dream of Mimeki began to become reality. From the challenge of finding materials that met her standards of quality and luxury, to the expense and time required to get the very first samples made, Rochelle never let go of her vision.

Today, Mimeki bags are made in the US of only the finest, carefully chosen Italian leathers and exotic skins. The beautiful colors and textures are truly a feast for the eye. Each bag is personally inspected by Rochelle to ensure it meets her exacting standards of beauty and quality.
